Previous Creative Projects
Creatively Together (April - July 2024)
Thanks to Groundwork's KeolisAmey Docklands Community Grant Funding we were able to run Creatively Together, weekly creative sessions for migrant women that also included day trips using the DLR.
Through this project the women have formed strong friendships, improved wellbeing, and had the opportunity to explore new parts of London including St Katharine Docks Marina, Sky Garden, IFS Cloud Cable Car, and Stratford.
Protein Dance (April - July 2024)
In partnership with the amazing Luca Silvestrini's Protein, and thanks to Brookhill Children's Centre for hosting us, we ran another term of weekly dance sessions for migrant women.

We devised a piece that we performed at two events for Refugee Week 2024 and this piece also formed an integral, emotive closure of our Stronger Together forum performance.
Creativity for Wellbeing (Sept 2023 - March 2024)
Thanks to Greenwich Mental Health Hub we were able to run two terms of Creativity for Wellbeing, a weekly session for migrant women to connect with local mental health and wellbeing services, and to learn and share creative skills.

We’re very grateful to all the amazing guests who joined us, and for the opportunities to visit the National Maritime Museum and Westcombe Woodlands.
Thanks to all the women who made this project such a nurturing, and uplifting space.
Mums Together Be Well Hub (Jan - March 2024)
Thanks to SLAM and Brookhill Children's Centre, we had the opportunity to run this weekly Be Well Hub for perinatal migrant women.

We were able to create a safe space to talk about our experiences, to be true to ourselves, and to explore relaxation and mindfulness techniques that we can carry into our every day lives. We also learnt more about local services and strengthened our support networks.

Creative Parenting (Jan - March 2024)
Thanks to Plumcroft Primary School we were able to run these creative parenting sessions, providing a space for migrant mums to come together to share their experiences, share their challenges, learn about parenting skills, and create a support network.
Dance Sessions (Oct - Dec 2023)
In these dance sessions with Luca Silvestrini's Protein Dance group we had the opportunity to come together as migrant women to explore movement around different themes of migration, identity and journeys, in a relaxed and inclusive space.

The final performance was a beautiful demonstration of the power of coming together. We saw the women coming together across differences, coming together to support each other through the ups and downs, everyone was helping each other to reach their potential and flourish in what they are doing.
In Conversation with the Statues and Shadows of Greenwich
(Sept - Dec 2023)
This history project for migrant women, facilitated by local historian Rich Sylvester, was a 'test and nurture' project funded by Mayor of London's Untold Stories programme committed to making public spaces more reflective of the capital’s diversity.

Through walks, discussions and participatory arts workshops the group shared and researched local history pinpointing areas of contested heritage. The sessions focused on Woolwich and Royal Arsenal sites looking at the imperial and colonial links of the area making connections and comparisons between the immigration stories of the women and the experiences of local working-class women from 100 years ago.
Mums Voices (June - Dec 2023)
South East London Local Maternity and Neonatal System gave us an opportunity to work on producing a report into how services currently are for migrants and how they can be improved, which will be published soon.
As part of the research we ran a project called Mums' Voices, which was a space for migrant mums and expecting mums to come together to share their experiences. The group is now working on a very unique creative output which we hope to showcase in February 2024.
The Colours of Greenwich (Feb - June 2023)
This art and history project for migrant women, facilitated by Lydia Powell, looked at how our migration experiences enrich our communities. We co-created a creative map to tell our stories, which we will hand over to the Living Refugee Archive in October 2023.

Thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund for making it possible and to Living Refugee Archive for their support and guidance.
My Creative Skills (Sept - Dec 2022)
Thanks to funding from Royal Borough of Greenwich we were able to run another series of My Creative Skills, a collaborative arts and crafts project for migrant women to share skills, build confidence and create meaningful connections with other migrant women.

This funding was part of the Community Innovation Grant, which you can read more about here.
Creative Families (April - July 2022)
Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund we were able to run Creative Families, a project that uses the arts to talk about our roles as parents and teachers to our children. It's been a safe space for migrants mothers to share and learn.

Sessions included:
-Understanding the UK schooling system with a local primary school teacher
-Careers advice looking at transferrable skills as mothers
-First Aid training with British Red Cross
and so much more!
